We love lighting candles to illuminate parties, so it was such a pleasure to attend Annes Eventos reception in the heart of the city.
We would like to share some pictures of this delicious afternoon in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona where were tempted to invent just any excuse in order to celebrate!

We have just received the photos from the last Wedding Fashion Night in Barcelona!
This creative wedding tendence show turned Palo Alto into a splendid scene for a surprising feast of exotic colours and oriental scents.
We fell in love with the thousand glimmering flames reflected on the crystal recipients arranged all over the place, as well as with the fresh grapefruit scented candles at the bride’s dressing table.
Candles also accompanied the ritual of welcoming guests with a hot fragrant tea .
Outside the building, the garden’s exuberant vegetation was illuminated by sensual scented colourful outdoors candles and large pillars surrounded the main entrance protected from the wind by glass photophores.
…Did anybody say that the bride should dress in white?

Traditionally, not only candles were lit for November 1st, but also a special tiny oil lights to honour the souls of the deceased. These tiny oil lights were known as little “butterflies” or “little souls” and consisted of a wick set on a small cork that used vegetal oil instead of wax as a combustible.
This custom, related to the Roman tradition of lighting an oil lamp for the spirit of the household gods, now is over, but these oil “butterflies” keep on illuminating all kinds of parties and events in a really delicate way.
Try pouring some water and olive oil in different glasses and light “butterflies” all around the room. The floating flames create a unique ethereal effect and, as long as there is oil, there will be flames!
Candles float because water density is higher than wax density, a physical particularity that makes them a such useful decorative resource!
For original table settings, you can put little floating candles in glass vases filled with water.
For outdoor parties in gardens provided with a pool, you may try candles with wind resistant wicks or hurricane candles designed to protect the flame from air draughts.
Did you know why candles in a pool tend to move to the borders instead of staying still? The answer is water’s surface tension, the same reason that prevents Water striders from submerging. Psst… Prop stylists often use fishing plumbs to make candles stay in place!
There is wild green grass under barefoot, music and refreshing fruits. When the sun goes down, all the candles we prepared for the party start shinning in such a colourful and vibrant way that they look just like planets.

So we just couldn’t miss the preview for The Wedding Fashion Night at la Roureda, where we discovered the delicious floral suggestions from La Floreria and the fabulous vintage clothes from L’arca de l’àvia. Everything is getting ready for the next September WFN Barcelona edition!

The shortest night of the year is also the most bright in Barcelona due to open-air parties and fireworks that celebrate the beginning of the Summer season. Can you imagine a better way to illuminate Summer nights than these torches for the garden or the beach? In Cerabella’s shop windows we have everything ready for the music to begin. Did you know that you should never blow to extinguish a torch flame? Our advice is to smother its flame by using a metallic lid. (Also remember not to use water in order to avoid hot wax splattering!)
